Since its inception in 1999 by a former Chief Justice of the Civil Court and two prominent Thai attorneys, AK&A have established a reputation of placing the needs of their clients first, by working diligently and efficiently to attain their objectives. Practice Areas

Litigation and Arbitration

Our firm has established a reputation for efficient, competent and tenacious litigation on behalf of its clients in the Civil Courts, Criminal Courts, Bankruptcy Court, Labor Court, Intellectual Property and International Trade Court, Administrative Court, Tax Court, and in Arbitration Proceedings, as well as a number of other dispute resolution forums.

We represent clients in a variety of complex matters, in lodging or defending civil and criminal complaints, contractual claims, intellectual property disputes, international trade cases, administrative matters, tax cases, and alternative dispute resolution matters, among others.

Labor and Employment Services

We have vast experience in pursuing and defending labor claims on behalf of Thai and international clients. We are also positioned to offer our clients consultancy regarding Thai labor laws, work regulations, employee benefits, employment termination and severance matters. In addition we provide legal advice regarding immigration, visas, work permits and foreign business laws.

Banking and Finance

Our representation of clients includes advising on asset finance, corporate lending and debt, capital markets, derivatives, securitizations, and investment.  Our group is poised to consult clients regarding innovative structures and transactions, including a spectrum of industries and investment types such as joint ventures, branch and representative offices.

Bankruptcy and Business Reorganization

Our firm regularly represents clients in initiating bankruptcy and business reorganization cases, filing creditor claims, providing interpretation of the Bankruptcy Act and analysis of restructuring options for firms.  As the Bankruptcy Act has recently been amended and continues to be refined, we are positioned to offer our clients the most up to the minute advice and consultation regarding this important area of the law.

Intellectual Property

Intellectual property protection has become an increasingly active area of our firm practice.  We not only offer our clients a full range of services for protection of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, we are also positioned to prepare for and conduct raids and coordinate with government officials to ensure passing off desists and infringement is stopped at the source.

Corporate and Commercial

Our firm handles an assortment of corporate and commercial issues, including preparation of contracts, sales agreements, licensing agreements, agency and brokerage agreements, providing consultancy regarding corporate structures, joint ventures, founding corporations in Thailand, Board of Investment promotion, advising on shareholder disputes, equities, mergers and acquisitions, development and venture capital, privatizations, investment funds and trusts, tax issues, regulatory requirements and a variety of other complex commercial matters. 

Projects, Energy and Natural Resources

Our firm’s transactional attorneys have assisted clients on a number of complex and successful projects. Our experience includes the areas of power projects, oil and gas, water and waste-water, electricity and transportation projects.  We have advised on a number of IPP projects in Asia in a broad spectrum of areas including government regulations, licensing and environmental requirements. We strive to identify and predict the requirements of all parties involved, both with regard to contentious and non-contentious work. 

Administrative Law

The recent founding of the Thai Administrative Court enables parties aggrieved by government acts or omissions to lodge claims with the Court and seek recourse against government agencies and employees. Our firm has actively represented clients in the application of the Act founding this Court and is positioned to provide accurate and comprehensible advice regarding this emerging area of Thai law.

Mr. Kittiporn Aroonrat                                                                    

Mr. Aroonrat has served as a legal consultant to domestic and foreign clients since 1976.  Prior to joining AK&A in 1999, Mr. Aroonrat served as a legal consultant and Office Manager at Kamnuan Chaopathump Law Office, a reputation firm conducted by former president of Lawyer Society of Thailand. Mr. Aroonrat possesses experience in wide range of legal fields and currently plays a prominent role in the Thai legal community and as a liaison and consultant to foreign embassies, including the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait. Mr. Aroonrat currently specializes in foreign business and investment including litigation of corporate cases.
